Saint Lucian soca artist and event producer Sedale Simei has released his latest hit single Never Me Again, a powerful collaboration with Bozo and Ramo of Bad Sound that is already making waves ahead of the island’s much-anticipated Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival and Carnival season.
The track, released two weeks ago, dives deep into the emotional fallout of infidelity, chronicling the pain of betrayal and the resolve to never endure such heartbreak again. “It details the experience of being with an unfaithful partner,” Simei shared in a recent interview. “The situation was so traumatic, it led us to say ‘never me again’—as in, we would never put ourselves in a position like that to be hurt again.”
The concept for the song was originally brought to Simei by Bobo during a creative session in December. Simei, struck by the raw honesty of the idea, quickly wrote and recorded his verse. The production team behind the single includes Bolzo Abbari and Ramo from the rising producer collective Bad Sound, who have been carving a name for themselves with genre-bending productions.
“These young guys are doing incredible work. They’re only about 19 or 20 years old and already they’ve produced major hits, like Patrice Roberts’ I Can’t Hear You, which recently crossed a million views on YouTube.”
Simei confirmed that the inspiration behind Never Me Again is rooted in real-life experiences—both his own and those of people around him. “Heartbreak is something a lot of people go through. It’s a message that resonates,” he explained. “Music that’s personal tends to hit the hardest.”
With the release of “Never Me Again”, Simei is kicking off a packed year of musical releases and events. He revealed plans for numerous collaborations across genres—from groovy soca and Dennery Segment to power soca and bouyon—as well as a commitment to working with both established and emerging artists.
“I consider myself an artist who’s always experimenting. This year, I’m going all in with new music, collabs, and of course, visuals.”
Though a music video for “Never Me Again” hasn’t dropped yet, Simei confirmed that it’s in the works and highly anticipated by fans. “People have been asking for the visuals—they want to see a representation of the story, and we’re definitely working on delivering that.”
Aside from music, Simei is also spearheading one of Carnival’s premier events, Transcend, known for its immersive experience and bold marketing.
