In a major boost to the tourism industry of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) has thrown its full support behind efforts to revitalize the St. Kitts & Nevis Hotel and Tourism Association (SKNHTA). This initiative was prompted by a strategic visit from CHTA President Sanovnik Destang and CEO Vanessa Ledesma, following an invitation from CEO of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Kelly Fontenelle.

The high-level visit underscores a renewed drive to unify the local tourism sector under a single, empowered association aimed at enhancing advocacy, regional representation, crisis management, marketing, and training for industry professionals.

During the visit, CHTA executives engaged with a committed group of hospitality professionals to highlight the importance of a strong, collective voice within the private sector. They emphasized the need for collaboration to ensure a resilient and sustainable tourism ecosystem.

Royal St. Kitts Hotel General Manager Darren Thompson, a key figure maintaining the association’s operations during this transitional period, stated, “The hospitality and tourism industry is stronger with a collective voice from the private sector. It will take all of us coming together to influence change and make a difference.”

CEO Kelly Fontenelle echoed this sentiment, stressing that, “A vibrant, well-supported hotel and tourism association is the heartbeat of a thriving destination.”

CHTA President Destang praised the potential of St. Kitts and Nevis as premier destinations. “With the current geopolitical realignments, now more than ever, the hospitality and tourism private sector needs a singular voice. At CHTA, we are committed to assisting in revitalizing the SKNHTA,” he said.

This visit marks a pivotal step in reenergizing the hotel and tourism landscape of the twin-island federation. The SKTA, in collaboration with the Nevis Tourism Authority and sector partners, is calling on all stakeholders to play an active role in the revived association.
