Probe into Adriana Younge’s Death Deepens: Senior Commander Reassigned as Investigations Intensify

Must Read

The Guyana Police Force has confirmed that investigations into the tragic death of 11-year-old Adriana Younge are intensifying, with a series of interviews, administrative shifts, and the involvement of an independent pathologist now underway.

According to a statement issued Friday by the Office of the Commissioner of Police, detectives have questioned several individuals connected to the Double Day Hotel and Bar, where Younge was last seen alive. Those interviewed include the hotel’s proprietor, several employees, a security guard, and a swimming instructor. In addition, police ranks from Regional Division #3, where the incident occurred, have also been subjected to questioning.

Investigators are continuing to seek out and interview individuals who may be able to assist with piecing together the events surrounding the young girl’s death.

In a significant development, the Force disclosed that it is awaiting the arrival of an independent pathologist—selected by the deceased’s family—to conduct a post-mortem examination. Authorities emphasized the importance of this procedure, noting that the results will be crucial to confirming the official cause of death.

Meanwhile, in what appears to be a response to the unfolding situation, the Guyana Police Force announced an administrative shake-up within its leadership ranks. Assistant Commissioner Khalid Mandall, Commander of Regional Division #3, has been reassigned to Regional Division #4B. Taking his place as Commander of Division #3 is Assistant Commissioner Mahindra Siewnarine.

Officials have pledged to keep the public updated as the investigation progresses.

The case has attracted intense national attention, with many calling for transparency and a thorough probe to ensure justice for Adriana Younge and her grieving family.
