Cap Estate Shooting Death Sparks Major Crimes Investigation

A shooting incident at a Cap Estate residence on Wednesday has escalated into a major crimes investigation, following the death of 27-year-old Brad Francis of Desruisseaux. Francis was reportedly shot by a homeowner after being discovered hiding in an apartment on the property. He is believed to have been mentally ill.

Initial accounts suggested Francis sustained a gunshot wound to the leg; however, an official incident report from the St Lucia Fire Service confirms he was shot in the lower right abdomen. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Saint Lucia Daily Post has learnt that a missing persons flyer bearing Francis’ image had been in circulation prior to the incident, suggesting he had been reported missing.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has confirmed that the Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting and the eventual death of Francis.
