A late afternoon fire sent shockwaves through the Chase Gardens community on Thursday, April 10, after a wooden structure and a vehicle were completely engulfed in flames.
The Saint Lucia Fire Service responded swiftly to the emergency call at approximately 5:06 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with a fully involved blaze consuming both the residential structure and a nearby vehicle.
Reports indicate that bystanders assisted a lone male occupant out of the burning home before fire crews arrived. Preliminary assessment by emergency personnel revealed the man sustained burn injuries to various parts of his body. He was promptly treated on the scene and transported to a medical facility for advanced care.
Firefighters managed to contain and fully extinguish the blaze, preventing further damage to nearby properties.
Authorities have since launched a full investigation into the origin and cause of the fire, which remain unknown at this time.
