A celebration of financial literacy and youth innovation took center stage on March 28th as the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange (ECSE) hosted the Awards Ceremony for the 2nd Annual Regional Schools Investment Competition in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The vibrant event brought together top-performing student investment teams from across the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU), recognizing their outstanding achievements in a challenge that combined market savvy with strategic thinking.

Dominating the competition was Adelphi Enterprise from Adelphi Secondary School, who not only emerged as the Country Winner for St. Vincent and the Grenadines but also claimed the coveted title of Regional Champion. The team was celebrated with an impressive package of rewards, including individual bank accounts to kickstart their investment journeys, a fee waiver for their teacher’s first investment transaction, EC$5,000 for their school, and the prestigious Sir K Dwight Venner Regional Champion Trophy.

Saint Lucia also shone brightly, with CHSS Emerging Investors from Choiseul Secondary School finishing as Regional Runner-Up and Country Winner. The team was further recognized for the Most Clearly Presented Strategic Approach in their video submission, highlighting the clarity and strength of their investment strategy.

Other Country Winners included:

Market Masters, Arthur Waldron SDA Academy (Dominica) – also awarded Most Creative Video Submission

Green Magnates Enterprises, Irene B. Williams Secondary (Antigua and Barbuda)

Boys on the Hill Investment, Grenada Boys Secondary School (Grenada)

Innovative Traders, Saddlers Secondary School (St. Kitts and Nevis)

Each Country Winner received a commemorative package featuring branded backpacks, teacher gift bags, certificates, and a school plaque. Winners of the video awards were also presented with cash prizes, adding a creative twist to the competition’s educational impact.

Guest speaker Mr. Anson Latchman, a dynamic young Vincentian professional, inspired attendees with a forward-looking address on financial empowerment. He urged students to embrace investing early, sharing insights on the power of compounding, diversification, and long-term wealth creation.

Launched by the ECSE, the Eastern Caribbean Securities Regulatory Commission (ECSRC), and six licensed broker-dealers across the region, the competition is an innovative initiative designed to immerse high school and college students in the world of investing. Through virtual stock trading and strategic portfolio management, participants gained firsthand experience in market operations — laying the groundwork for a new generation of financially savvy Eastern Caribbean citizens.

With its second edition now complete, the Regional Schools Investment Competition continues to affirm its value as a transformative learning experience — empowering youth with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to shape their financial futures.
